GM Diet Take...8!

I've been doing the GM diet for several times now. Learned about it through Danie and Arianne, who both lost weight after following this semi-crash diet.

During my initial try, I already lost about 4kg. I was expecting more, but didn't really get the weight that I wanted. So after one week of resting, I did it again. It was a success though. After 2 attempts, I lost about 6kg in total. Not bad!

I did it in time for my Manila trip and Boracay escapade.

It actually paid off as I was at my thinnest then. But of course, the beer belly (or love handles or baby fats) was still there.

Nowadays, I turn to GM if I need a quick fix in losing weight. And it's actually a way for me to discipline myself after weeks of non-stop eating.

During the seven day programme, these are actually my thoughts about each day:

1. All fruits (except bananas)
Thank God you start with this. If the fruit day is in the middle of the week, then most likely you will give up easily. Starting with something difficult is an easy feat. It's either you start the whole programme or just back out. Good thing I am usually pscyhed to start the diet, so I always manage to finish the first day without giving into temptations.

2. All veggies (starting your day with potatoes)
I always look forward to eating potatoes to start my day. Never have I been excited about potatoes in my entire life. This one is easy as I'm a veggie person at heart. There's also a lot of options around - from Subway to even Lau Pa Sat or your nearest Yong Tau Fu station.

3. Unlimited veggie and fruits (no potatoes)
Completing the 2nd and 3rd day gives you already an advantage for the 3rd day. Your mind will think, "at least now I can eat either at my own pleasure."

4. Bananas and milk
I'll call it DIARRHEA day. I always end up at the toilet. By this time, all your food cravings are somehow gone. You know you are hungry, but your mind tells you aren't. I give up most of the time at this stage.

5. Beef + Tomatoes
As we don't have any kitchens in our previous houses where we can cook and prepare my beef baon, I always end up buying cooked beef from the stores or wherever I end up at... usually burgers at Carls Jr, Mo's burger, or even McDonalds. Not good.

6. Beef unlimited
It's really hard if you don't cook or prepare this. Sometimes, I even buy food from Korean stalls and indulge on their yummy Beef bulgogis.

7. Brown rice + Veggies + Fruit juices
70% of the time, I don't follow the 7th day diet anymore. I've never eaten the brown rice during my eight or more times of doing GM. Hopefully this time around I am able to follow what should be done on this day.

Aside from the patience and discipline, it's also quite costly to do this diet. Buying your stock of fruits, veggies, milk, bananas, beef, etc. are pretty expensive. More or less you'll spend about $50-70 a week to follow this.

Wish me luck! I'll probably do this again in January before I go back home.

Signing off,
